Rock climbing in Brittany

Brittany offers climbers a unique playground: sea-carved granite right by the ocean, facing the Atlantic. Finistère holds most of these maritime cliffs, where climbing happens above the open sea, paced by the tides and the shifting light of the Breton coast.
On the Crozon peninsula, the Pointe de Pen-Hir unfurls its great granite slabs above the famous Tas de Pois. Further south, on Cap Sizun, the Pointe de Brézellec offers wild, panoramic climbing, while Argol rounds out the peninsula with more sheltered sectors.
Here the granite is rough and grippy, perfect for slab and crimp climbing. Check the tide tables before you go: some route bases are only reachable at low tide. Spring and summer, when the rock is dry and the wind has dropped, are the best seasons.
Further south, in the Bigouden country, Lesconil and Saint-Guénolé offer some of the most photogenic seaside boulders and routes in the region. Find all these topos, free or detailed, in the OneTopo app.
