Lans-en-Vercors
Climbing at Lans-en-Vercors: discover the complete topo for this crag, with all the routes, their grades, access and practical info to climb at the site.
The Lans-en-Vercors crag is located in Lans-en-Vercors (Isère), a climbing site to discover in the area.
This very classic climbing area features over a hundred routes on excellent Senonian limestone (which explains the presence of flint in some places), with good holds for fingers and feet. Routes are available for all skill levels, with most rated 6 and 7, but many routes offer a great opportunity to learn placement and route reading on accessible routes. The downside of its popularity is that the rock is quite weathered in places. Although it’s an older crag, new routes are regularly established here (including an entire sector in 2004). Maintenance is performed regularly, and some sectors have recently been completely rebolted. The crag also offers difficult routes as well as 2- to 3-pitch routes. Thanks to its excellent exposure, the rock dries quickly. It’s fascinating to imagine that a glacier, descending from Pic St-Michel, once became trapped in this gorge a very long time ago, thus creating this climbing terrain.
